    AMENITIES & SERVICES
What to expect: The Santa Catalina Mountains form the background for this resort, which sits amid graceful palm trees, towering cactus, and lush golf greens. Each fall, the Omni hosts the PGA Tour’s Tucson Open. The rest of the time, golfers from around the world come to challenge these same holes. Although the resort is geared to golfers, there are plenty of other options for recreation and rejuvenation, including tennis on lighted courts, basketball, sand volleyball, two beautifully landscaped outdoor pools, and the 13,000-square-foot Dragonfly Spa with fitness center.

Amenity highlights: The star of this resort is the 27-hole PGA championship course, comprising three nine-hole courses. Another top draw is the European-style spa with 11 treatment rooms, a sauna, spa tubs, and a cold plunge. There are mountain and golf-course views from the terraces and restaurants, and a paved walking trail winds through the property with its abundant flowers and natural desert landscaping.

Insider tip: Saguaro National Park, home to towering cactus and a wide range of desert animals, is a 10-minute drive from the resort. It takes 60 years for a Saguaro to sprout its first “arm” or branch, and many of the cacti in the park are centuries old. The park offers more than 150 miles of hiking trails, ranging from flat, easy strolls in the Sonoran Desert to steep and rugged hikes into the Rincon Mountains.

In addition to the golf course and spa, the resort features two large outdoor pools with fountains, covered terraces, and striking views of the greens and mountains. The sports complex includes tennis and basketball courts. Personal training, stretching classes for golfers, and group yoga are featured at the health club. The Legends Bar and Grill, one of three restaurants, pays tribute to the renowned golfers who have played here over the last 25 PGA tours. Programs for children including a cactus-identification nature walk. The resort’s business center offers complimentary high-speed Internet access.

    RECREATION
With the help of Jack Nicklaus, the Tucson National Golf Course began to garner fame in the golf community in 1960. The course hosted the first PGA Tour Tucson Open in 1965. The resort that now adjoins the course was born in the 1980s, expanding golf opportunities with an additional 9 holes. The Omni also has two outdoor pools, lighted tennis courts, basketball courts, and scenic jogging trails.

Saguaro National Park, a 10-minute drive away, offers hiking trails among giant cactus. Sabina Canyon, a desert oasis with waterfalls, a swimming hole, and picnic areas, is a 25-minute drive from the resort. Kitt Peak National Observatory, 90 minutes from the resort, has some of the world’s largest high-powered telescopes and offers guided tours and nightly observing programs under clear desert skies.
